The Langdon Public Library was erected in 1892 out of brick, granite, & slate as a gift from Mr Woodbury Langdon III, along with some 2,000 books of his personal collection. Some of the costs were also covered from timber sales from Newington's town forest, the oldest town forest in the US. Langdons original donated books are still on display at the library today.
